Clemson player says new transfer rule will make Week 4 the annual ‘trade deadline’

Hunter Renfrow has quickly become an all-time player in the minds of many Clemson fans and those close to the program.
The former walk-on wide receiver made the game-winning catch when the Tigers beat Alabama and won the national championship at the end of the 2016 season. Renfrow became a fan favorite with four touchdowns in two national championship games against Alabama.
In speaking with reporters Tuesday, Renfrow expressed his frustrations with the new rule in college football this season where players can transfer and maintain that year of eligibility as long as they play in less than five games.
“I don’t like having to worry about that,” Renfrow said, according to multiple ESPN reporters. “Now Week 4 every year is going to be the trade deadline, and everyone is going to make decisions. I don’t like that part of it. When you commit to a school, when you commit to a team, that’s your team, right?”
The issue is particularly noteworthy at Clemson after former starting QB Kelly Bryant announced last week plans to transfer. New starting QB Trevor Lawrence then suffered a head and neck injury against Syracuse.
Renfrow said he wouldn’t have made the same decision that Bryant did, but he wasn’t angry with his former teammate.
