While it was a fairly light week for the league when it came to marquee games, the SEC still saw plenty of shakeup and storylines were abound.

Oklahoma’s hard-earned 24-17 win over Auburn highlighted the day, while Missouri’s revenge victory over South Carolina and Ole Miss’ statement win over Tulane caused some levels of movement within the rankings.

The Week 5 coaches poll, which features 10 SEC teams:

  1. Ohio State
  2. Penn State
  3. Georgia
  4. LSU
  5. Oregon
  6. Miami
  7. Texas
  8. Florida State
  9. Texas A&M
  10. Oklahoma
  11. Ole Miss
  12. Indiana
  13. Iowa State
  14. Texas Tech
  15. Tennessee
  16. Alabama
  17. Georgia Tech
  18. Michigan
  19. Missouri
  20. Vanderbilt
  21. Notre Dame
  22. USC
  23. Illinois
  24. BYU
  25. TCU

Notably, South Carolina (previously No. 24) and Auburn (previously No. 25) both fell out of the rankings following defeats over the weekend.

In terms of programs receiving votes, Mississippi State (57) and Auburn (48) were the two conference teams that were listed.

The SEC is home to half of the top 16 teams in the rankings, and the Big Ten’s 7 included teams make up the next closest conference when it comes to overall rankings.

All in all, the top 7 teams in this week’s ranking remained the same, with the rise of Indiana and fall of Illinois being the key dominoes that shifted the standings.
