It looks like there’s one more fan of Auburn’s battle cry.
The “war eagle” battle cry has a long history with multiple legendary tales associated with the slogan’s beginning. Regardless of how it originated, the “war damn eagle” cry has become a staple of Auburn football throughout its prominent history.
The cry was echoed by one unusual source on Twitter Thursday. Washington State head coach Mike Leach sent out the phrase in an initial tweet in response to a question about his recent breakdown of the best mascots in college football.
Leach went on to clarify that he is not an Auburn fan, but the phrase just seems to fit college football. Here is a look at the tweets:
War Damn Eagle!

I’m not even an Auburn fan. I️ like Alabama as much as Auburn. But I’m a college FB fan. It just feels good to say WAR DAMN EAGLE! It feels like how college FB should feel.

It is awesome to see Leach express himself as a college football “fan.” At least Auburn fans should get a kick out of his latest comments!
