College football fans weigh in on most overrated team in AP Top 25

The 2022 college football season kicked off last weekend with a limited Week 0 schedule. A 5-day slate of Week 1 games began Thursday, which means Associated Press voters’ preseason rankings are being put to the test.
Preseason rankings are often dismissed as unimportant, but they help shape the in-season rankings, influencing the initial College Football Playoff selection committee poll.
Every poll has teams that are overrated. So which team is the most overrated in the initial AP Top 25? According to social media data, it’s Notre Dame. The Irish are ranked No. 5 ahead of a game at No. 2 Ohio State as a double-digit underdog.
No. 4 Clemson and No. 8 Michigan are next behind Notre Dame. The first SEC team on the list is defending national champion Georgia.
The Bulldogs have been a consistent title contender the last few seasons. The fans calling UGA overrated presumably feel that the Dawgs lost too much talent to the NFL. When a team recruits like Georgia, though, it doesn’t rebuild, it reloads.
