Levi Williams fumbled the snap, frantically picked up the bouncing ball and did the rest with his legs, fighting through defenders to score the game-winning touchdown over New Mexico in Week 13.

Williams made the most of his first meaningful snaps at Utah State last Saturday, throwing for 198 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception in a 44-41 2OT win. His touchdown made the Aggies bowl eligible, handing them their 6th win of the season.

Williams is going out on top, too. Just a few days after winning Utah State the game, he announced that he will be forfeiting his remaining eligibility to start Navy SEAL training.

โ€œI just want to be in a spot where I can protect this great country where we get to play football with the freedom to do that,” Williams said of his decision, via KSLSports. I think this is the best country in the world. So Iโ€™d like to keep it that way and protect it as long as I can.โ€

The selection process for the Navy SEALs begins in February according to the aforementioned article. If he is selected, the process would start in the summer with an expected graduation in 2024.

Williams played 5 years of college football, first at Wyoming before transferring to Utah State. He redshirted his first season with the Aggies and played during the 2020 COVID-19 season, which would have opened up the potential for a return until this announcement.

How about that?

โ€œWhat I love about their ethos and their motto is that no one guy is better than the other,” Williams told KSLSports. It takes all of them to complete a mission. I think thatโ€™s super criticalโ€ฆ Just to have the ability to be part of that brotherhood, it would be a great honor.”
