Phil Steele is widely recognized as one of college football’s chief experts. Steele is also connected to some of the smartest folks in the desert.

Steele first shared his “Vegas Power Ratings” in his ESPN days. He maintains connections with handicappers at multiple Las Vegas casinos.

Steele’s “Vegas Power Ratings,” published on his own site, are meant to give fans “an idea of how much teams would be favored over another team if they met on a neutral field.” The difference between 2 teams’ Vegas Ratings shows what Steele projects the betting line would be on a neutral field.

Steele reminds fans that the Vegas Rankings don’t always reflect prior results on the field:

Keep in mind just because a team beat someone last week does not mean they would be favored over them in the Vegas ratings.

Here’s where every SEC team ranks in the Week 2 Vegas Power Ratings:

  • No. 1 Alabama (140.30 Vegas Rating)
  • No. 3 Georgia (135.95)
  • No. 6 Texas A&M (125.21)
  • No. 7 Tennessee (124.66)
  • No. 12 Arkansas (120.16)
  • No. 17 Kentucky (118.80)
  • No. 21 Ole Miss (118.15)
  • No. 22 Florida (117.83)
