College GameDay is out with its Week 9 destination as ESPN’s popular pregame show will step outside of its usual Power 5 footprint for the second time this season.
Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Lee Corso and David Pollack will head to Jackson State for its game against Southern. This is a huge HBCU rivalry matchup, and Deion Sanders’ Jackson State program is 7-0 while Southern is 5-2.
The popular pregame show, which has been to Tennessee twice this season, and also visited Appalachian State, typically chooses 1 or 2 of the non-Power 5 programs throughout the season.
The decision comes during a week in which there are 3 games where both teams are ranked: No. 2 Ohio State at Penn State, No. 19 Kentucky at Tennessee, and No. 11 Oklahoma State at No. 17 Kansas State.
Corso during Saturday’s show joked that the program should visit UCF for its game against No. 21 Cincinnati.
