College GameDay ends with electric Pat McAfee pick in Michigan-Oklahoma game

College GameDay was missing its beloved Lee Corso on Saturday morning in Norman in the leadup to the mega matchup between Oklahoma and Michigan on Saturday night.

Corso’s ESPN farewell came last Saturday in Columbus when he slapped on the head gear one last time, picking Ohio State to beat Texas in the titanic showdown at Ohio Stadium. Fittingly, Corso’s pick was correct, and that was that as the legendary ambassador for college football bowed out at age 90.

That left a big-time absence in the GameDay closer’s role on Saturday. Who would fill the void, how would it look and how would it sound?

ESPN talking head and college football analyst Pat McAfee took care of that, as only he could. The outspoken McAfee was the last person on the ESPN panel to make his pick on the Michigan-Oklahoma game, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. McAfee wore a black cowboy hat as he screamed his selection while standing up to the gathered crowd behind the ESPN set.

McAfee gave those Oklahoma fans something to scream back at him, as he led them in a “Boomer Sooner!” chant while picking No. 18 Oklahoma to beat No. 15 Michigan under the lights at Memorial Stadium.

Here is the video that will go down in GameDay history since it was the end of the first show post-Corso:

Will McAfee close every show now in the post-Corso GameDay era? Fans will have to tune in again next Saturday morning to find out.
