College GameDay will be on location for Lane Kiffin’s LSU coaching debut.
According to a report from On3Sports’ Pete Nakos, College GameDay is set to travel to Baton Rouge to cover Clemson at LSU for their Week 1 pregame kickoff show.
For those of you familiar with Week 1’s slate this year, College GameDay’s choice should not come as any surprise. Not only is Clemson at LSU Kiffin’s LSU debut, it’s also the best matchup scheduled for that Saturday by a considerable margin. Other contenders, for example, include Baylor at Auburn and Boise State at Oregon.
Sunday actually has a better slate, with Notre Dame at Wisconsin and Louisville at Ole Miss, followed by SMU at Florida State on Monday.
Kiffin and the Tigers, especially if LSU wins in Week 1, are very likely to be featured on College GameDay in Week 3, as well. Though it obviously has not been decided quite yet, Kiffin returns to Oxford on September 19 to face his old team in one of the most anticipated matchups of the early season.
Hopefully, this year’s matchup between the Tigers comes with a little more impact on the College Football Playoff, as was expected for last season’s year opening contest. Clemson and LSU both struggled to meet expectations and finished the season unranked.
