George’s comment to The Athletic came shortly after Sanders declined to discuss his health at Big 12 Media Days, the Colorado coach’s first public appearance since Colorado’s spring game on April 19. The family hosted an NFL Draft for son Shedeur the following week.
“I’m not here to talk about my health, I’m here to talk about my team,” Sanders said during a Wednesday press conference.
“Average day, I’m living good,” he added. “I’m living lovely. God has truly blessed me. Not a care in the world.”
Last month, it was revealed that Sanders was at his ranch in Texas as he recovered from an unspecified health issue. He has not been in Boulder for summer camps or multiple on-campus recruiting weekends. A source told The Athletic that Sanders was in touch with the coaching staff daily.
