The SEC made the decision to do a 10-game, conference-only season in 2020, which means teams are in for tough games every week.
There won’t be any gimmes this year, no cupcakes, and commissioner Greg Sankey seems excited by that prospect.
As you can see below, he spoke with CBS Sports and explained the rationale behind the decision to move to 10 conference games:

“We had to make decisions about how the season would be structured based on making the best judgments around completing a season,” Sankey said. “… Our focus has been on the support of a healthy regular season. Playing 10 conference games, I thought people would love it, right? It’s been speculated on. … I think people will enjoy that. But it’s a grind and a challenge. I expect our teams to rise to the occasion.”
Will this be the new normal moving forward? We’ll find out what happens with the 2021 season.
