Conner Weigman assesses struggles against Notre Dame, talks attitude going forward

Conner Weigman did not begin the 2024 season the way he had planned, or the Texas A&M faithful had hoped. In the Aggies’ loss to Notre Dame, Weigman was just 12-of-30 passing for 100 yards with 2 interceptions and no touchdowns.
Addressing the media on Monday, Weigman said he would not be shying away from any criticism.
“I won’t back down from anything. I’ll face it head-on,” Weigman told reporters. ” I’ll be the first to tell you that I didn’t play well.”
Weigman turned to the diamond to describe his outlook after a rough start to the season. He’s ready to shake it off and get after what’s next.
“I take it back to my baseball days: So what, next pitch,” Weigman said. “That’s how I approach every sport I play. I told my teammates this morning that I have to be better. There’s no excuses for the way I played.”
Weigman said that his foot felt “100% fine” and he did not worry about injuries while playing. He also dismissed the suggestion that he was “pressing” against the Irish. Weigman did, though, identify an area for improvement.
“My footwork. I’ve got to be better,” the quarterback said. “My feet were all over the place after watching the film, and that won’t happen again.”
Weigman and the Aggies get a tune-up in Week 2, facing McNeese. Texas A&M opens SEC play on the road at Florida in Week 3. The Gators struggled on both sides of the ball at home against No. 19 Miami in Week 1.
