We’re getting down to the nitty-gritty time of the year for college football. Every game from here on out has heightened importance for championship contenders. Each week, they’re putting their resume on display for the College Football Playoff committee. So, following Week 11, SEC Shorts decided to do the same via Shark Tank.
The episode begins with Georgia pitching itself to a 3-member cast of ESPN, the CFP and the SEC Championship game. The Bulldogs admit they “start slow,” “play down to their competition,” and “find new and unique ways to let inferior competition hang around,” but “just played their most complete game of the season.” The SEC Championship presents a contract to Georgia after hearing all that, but the Bulldogs won’t commit.
Once Georgia leaves the tank, Virginia and Louisville show up and announce they’re out after losing at home to Wake Forest and Cal, respectively. Ole Miss gets its pitch for more on-campus playoff games denied by ESPN, and Indiana gets bashed for its strength of schedule. The ESPN app also catches some strays that many fans may feel are deserved.
This week’s skit wraps up with the CFP showing its infatuation with Notre Dame, Texas A&M turning down a 3-way offer because of “Battered Aggie Syndrome,” Mizzou being shut out of the tank entirely, and Alabama getting instant approval from each of the “Sharks.” You can watch the full episode of SEC Shorts below:
