The Miami Dolphins currently own the No. 5 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft and assuming Tua Tagovailoa is still on the board at that spot, there’s an outstanding chance the former Crimson Tide signal-caller is headed to South Beach.

Of course, there’s no guarantee Tagovailoa will be on the board at No. 5 as the former Alabama quarterback continues to see his stock rise following one positive medical checkup after another leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft.

After receiving positive feedback from the doctors at the 2020 NFL Combine and getting good news on his latest medical checkup leading to his scheduled Pro Day in April, some draft analysts have Tagovailoa being selected as high as No. 3 overall in the upcoming draft.

If Miami wants Tua, they will likely have to trade up for him. Before that decision can be made, the team was hoping to meet with Tua in Miami according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media but the meeting has not occurred following the coronavirus outbreak.

Rapoport also noted that Tagovailoa was Miami’s first call among all potential NFL draft hopefuls for a visit.

Read into that how you will but Miami is clearly interesting in getting to know Tua as well as possible before the draft arrives. Whether this is a smokescreen or not remains to be seen but we’ll find out soon enough as the 2020 NFL Draft is quickly approaching.
