CFB insider shares the latest on the possibility of the College Football Playoff being pushed back
The way things stand currently, the College Football Playoff Committee is planning to announce the four teams that will advance to college football’s ultimate tournament on Sunday, Dec. 20. The Playoff is set to start on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, with the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl each set to host a game.
That’s the plan, anyway.
But following a week that saw 25 percent of FBS games that were supposed to be played get postponed or canceled, who knows if that deadline is realistic or not.
Keep in mind, Championship Weekend is set to be played on Saturday, Dec. 19.
According to ESPN college football insider Heather Dinich, CFP executive director Bill Hancock is at least willing to consider the idea of pushing back the upcoming Playoff.
ESPN morning show Get Up shared a clip of the latest news on the matter in the video below.
Paul Finebaum’s reaction to that news was pretty great.
“Bill Hancock is one of the most stubbern people in intercollegiate athletes, the fact that he said, ‘I’ll listen’ is a major development,” Finebaum said on the show. “That’s breaking news because normally the whole building may be on fire and Bill says everything’s fine. It’s a great day.”
