Former Clemson running back Tavien Feaster transferred to rival South Carolina recently, and he’ll be available for the 2019 season.
Although Feaster hasn’t started practice yet, he’ll be available soon, which is great news for a South Carolina team that desperately needs a difference-maker in the backfield.
Of course, transferring to your in-state rival might be intimidating to some, but Feaster accepted the challenge.
On Friday, Dabo Swinney was asked about Feaster’s transfer for the first time.
“I wish him all the best in all [games] but one of them, for sure,” Swinney said as Clemson opened preseason practice, via Matt Connolly at The State. “It’s no different whether he’s going to your rival or whether he’s going to someone else on your schedule. That’s kind of where where we are with college football now. You’re going to see that more and more.
“We certainly wish him well. He was a model student-athlete for us. He’s a great player.”
Feaster recorded 222 carries for 1,330 yards and 15 touchdowns in three seasons at Clemson. Now, he’ll try and make an impact for the Gamecocks.
The running back chose the Gamecocks over Virginia Tech.
