One Mississippi State fan’s weekend turned out to be much more special than he expected. On Saturday, 10-year-old Nash Durr was told by his mother that they were going to a botanical garden. It turned out the trip was a white lie by Nash’s mother, as the Bulldog fan got to meet his hero, Dak Prescott.

According to The Clarion-Ledger, Prescott became familiar with the Durr family because of the tragic death of Lincoln County Deputy William Durr, who died in the Brookhaven, Miss. shooting spree May 27-28. In the photo released to the press, the Durr family were sporting their maroon and white, including Nash in an MSU Dak Prescott jersey. Prescott received word of the photo and reached out to the family for the surprise meeting.

The writer of The Clarion-Ledger story included photos from the meeting in a shared Facebook post seen below. For the full recap of the heartwarming meeting, the full story can be read here.
