Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott took home his first award of the year on Tuesday, when he was named the the Conerly Trophy winner. The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame gives out the award annually to the top college football player in the state of Mississippi.
Prescott was one of 10 finalists for the award, including standout Ole Miss cornerback Senquez Golson. Prescott has led the Bulldogs to first 10-win regular season in school history. He’s thrown for 2,996 yards and run for 939 yards, totaling 37 touchdowns combined.
On top of winning the Conerly Trophy, Prescott is a finalist for the Davey O’Brien Award, given to the country’s top quarterback, and the Maxwell Award for the most outstanding player in the country. Prescott was considered a front-runner for the Heisman Trophy for much of the season, but his candidacy has taken a hit in recent weeks.
