Ha Ha Clinton-Dix’s time with the Dallas Cowboys is ending sooner than expected. Dallas cut the former Alabama defensive standout on Thursday.

Clinton-Dix, familiar with new Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy, signed a one-year, $3.75 million deal with the Cowboys in April as a free agent.

After playing at Alabama 2011-13, Clinton-Dix was selected No. 21 overall by McCarthy’s Green Bay Packers in the 2014 NFL Draft. Clinton-Dix spent his first 4 full seasons in Green Day. In 2018, he was traded on Oct. 30 to Washington.

Clinton-Dix spent the 2019 season with the Chicago Bears on a one-year deal. In his NFL career, Clinton-Dix has played in 103 games (96 regular-season, 7 post-season), starting 97. Clinton-Dix has recorded 552 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 44 passes defended, including 19 interceptions. He received a Pro Bowl invite and second-team All-Pro recognition in 2016.

ESPN’s Ed Werder shared that Clinton-Dix opened the season working with the first-team defense but was passed on the depth chart by Darian Thompson.

We’ll see where Clinton-Dix gets his next NFL opportunity.
