One of the country’s top uncommitted defensive backs has just announced his commitment as Pensacola, Fla., native Damarius McGhee has committed to LSU during a live ceremony that was broadcast nationally by ESPN’s Early Signing Period coverage.
McGhee was previously committed to Tennessee but backed off that pledge in late November. McGhee was also considering Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Miami leading up to his final decision.
The 6-foot-1, 162-pound Florida native is rated as a four-star prospect, the No. 14 cornerback in the nation and a top 200 overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Interestingly, McGhee is rated as the No. 8 cornerback in the nation and a top 90 overall prospect by 247Sports but his composite ranking is much lower, suggesting one service has yet to properly evaluate him.
