Former Alabama running back and current CBS Sports analyst Damien Harris knows a thing or two about Saturday trap games and sees tonight’s showdown in Death Valley between visiting Florida and No. 3 LSU as one of them for the Tigers.
“We are all sitting here talking about how much LSU could beat Florida by, but not talking about how this could be a trap game for LSU,” Harris said on the CBS Sports College Football Pregame show. “When you go into a game thinking we just gotta to not lose it, we just gotta not put ourselves in bad positions… Florida is a team that is probably pissed off because they just lost to USF – they have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain.
“LSU has everything to lose. I am not saying Florida is going to win or that this gives them kind of advantage, but we all know as players that this is a recipe for a setup for LSU.”
LSU is certainly riding high after outlasting then-No. 4 Clemson 17-10 on the road and then beating Louisiana Tech 23-7 last week in Baton Rouge. And when the lights are on bright at Tiger Stadium is usually when LSU is at its very best. Florida, on the other hand, absorbed a shocking 18-16 home loss to South Florida last weekend that once again put Gators coach Billy Napier on the hot seat.
LSU-Florida kicks off at 7:30 pm ET and will be telecast on ABC.
