Dan Mullen thinks Texas A&M’s next coach will walk into an ideal recruiting situation.

Mullen shared his thoughts on the A&M opening during a recent radio appearance. In the clip shared by SiriusXM College Sports, Mullen began by pondering the program’s financial commitments.

“The college football landscape’s obviously changed over the last couple of years. You know, one thing, you look and say, ‘All this money we’re paying Jimbo Fisher, why not throw that into a collective and go buy the best roster you can buy?'” Mullen said.

The former SEC coach said Fisher’s successor will be able to use Texas A&M’s top-flight facilities to recruit from all over the country.

“The Texas A&M (opening) is interesting. I think it’s a different school. Recruiting has become much more national, players coming from around the country. And they’ve started to buy into that to get to those players nationally,” Mullen told the show.

“I think there’s a benefit at Texas A&M over some places. One, they have unbelievable facilities. Whoever they go to get, whatever direction they decide to go into, whoever’s walking in the door, the facilities are in place – check – so you have that part to go recruit to. You have the stadium. You have a passionate fanbase. You have a great recruiting area. All of those things being said, it’s a job that is in a better place than a lot of other ones that are out there, a lot of other people that have taken over jobs.”

Mullen coached against A&M on an annual basis from 2012-17 as Mississippi State’s head coach and again in 2020 with the Florida Gators.
