Dan Orlovsky takes a unique approach to evaluating quarterbacks, and during a segment with Paul Finebaum on Friday, the ESPN analyst placed Anthony Richardson is a legendary class.

Orlovsky will be on the call for Florida’s game with Utah on Saturday, which is set for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN.

“He’s the most talented quarterback Florida’s had since Tim Tebow, physically,” Orlovsky said. “He’s that special of a player. I absolutely think he’s the most intriguing prospect at that position in all of college football this year. Because he’s exactly what we see dominating NFL quarterback play on Sundays now. Big, fast, powerful, strong, fearless, great thrower of the football. Incredibly bright, can beat you with his arm, his mind, and his legs.”

Orlovsky recalled that games he called last year, he noticed the “electricity” that would come out of Richardson as a runner and a thrower.

“I would sit there and I’ve got tremendous amount of respect for Dan Mullen, and I was like, ‘Why is Anthony Richardson not the starting quarterback for this football team,'” he said.

Orlovsky shared that what Billy Napier and the Florida staff love about Richardson is how he’s become smart about playing quarterback, from knowing the protections, to changing a call to a running play.

“We’re talking about a young man who has everything physically talent-wise that you need, and now he’s really started to embrace difficult coaching and be challenged in that way,” Orlovsky said. “It may not pop tomorrow night against Utah against a top 7 team, but I think we’re going to see this man take off as the season gets going.”
