Arkansas is making a trip to Omaha this season thanks to a walk-off hit from Brady Slavens, and the Razorbacks are enjoying this even more than usual because of the heartbreak of last season.

“This super regional win was special because of how it went down last year. It never gets old,” coach Dave Van Horn said.

Slavens added, “I remember Jalen Battles coming up to me during my final at-bat. He said this is why we came back.”

The Razorbacks will make their 11th trip to the College World Series after they knocked off North Carolina in Game 2 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional. It’s the Hogs’ seventh trip to Omaha under Van Horn and their first since 2019.

On Sunday, Will McEntire got the first NCAA Tournament start of his career, and he delivered 5 2/3 scoreless innings of work, along with 4 strike outs.

After the disappointing finish in the SEC Tournament, Arkansas appears to be peaking at the right time.

“We’ve known all year about the potential of this team,” Slavens said. “I think we like playing with the pressure and having our backs against the wall. We’re clicking at the right time.”
