David Ortiz pokes fun at Alabama’s rough start to Mark Ingram II: ‘They kind of suck this year’

David Ortiz has got jokes.

The former Red Sox slugger made an appearance on Big Noon Kickoff Saturday morning and couldn’t help but poke some fun at Mark Ingram for Alabama’s start to the season.

The Crimson Tide haven’t been a disaster, but they also haven’t lived up to the Alabama standard. Ortiz was much less nuanced with his take on Alabama’s season, though. He asked Ingram, a former Alabama star, “what’s up with Alabama, man? They kind of suck this year.”

Ingram’s reaction is truly priceless:

Ingram was quick to defend the Crimson Tide, saying they don’t “suck” but rather are wildly undisciplined. And he makes a good point. More than anything, Alabama has failed to do the little things right at a consistent level.

Alabama has committed the most penalties of any team in the SEC, as well as the most penalties per game at 8.9. Only Ole Miss has given up more yardage to penalties than the Crimson Tide. That, mixed with a defense that ranks 60th in yards per game allowed, is far from a winning recipe.

Alabama looks to get back on track against No. 21 Mizzou at 3:30.
