Deion Sanders put together a legendary career in the NFL while making his mark briefly on Major League Baseball. The Pro Football Hall of Famer is now seeing tremendous success as the head coach of Jackson State, and it seems it might be a matter of not if, but when he will make the jump to a Power 5 program.

Before his time in the pros, Sanders was one of the most feared defensive backs in college football. He totaled 15 interceptions at Florida State en route to a pair of All-American selections and a retired No. 2 jersey in Tallahassee.

As it turns out, not only is “Primetime” currently ranked 3rd all-time in picks at Florida State, but he’s tied with another standout defensive back that played for the program several decades prior: Lee Corso. Corso, due to health concerns, wasn’t on site with the College GameDay crew during their visit to Jackson State on Saturday, but host Rece Davis still made mention of the stat.

“You’re joking!” Sanders exclaimed. “Are you kidding me? Oh, my God!”

Florida State’s leader in interceptions was Terrell Buckley with 21, followed by Monk Bonasorte with 15. Sanders had a typical response when mentioning why he wasn’t higher in the school record books.

“That means they didn’t throw at me like that,” he said.
