Former Alabama running back Derrick Henry shined during the Tennessee Titans’ scrimmage.

Recently, Titans head coach Mike Mularky challenged Henry, saying he’s not a fast starter.

“I will say this about Derrick: I don’t think he’s a fast starter,” coach Mike Mularkey said. “I’ve got to talk to him about that tempo period because we’ve got a bunch of guys up front that are creating things for him and he’s not hitting it like I’d like to see him hit it.”

Henry has risen to the challenge, and he turned heads during the Titans’ Monday night scrimmage, scoring two touchdowns and having another one nullified due to penalty.

Henry reeled off a 25-yard run early in the scrimmage:

Here’s the second Henry touchdown run, as he moves the pile forward for a score. Interesting enough, former Alabama fullback Jalston Fowler was his lead blocker, and he ran behind former Alabama guard Chance Warmack into the end zone on the following play.

This would have been Henry’s third touchdown of the night if not for a penalty:

Mularky was impressed with Henry and fellow running back David Cobb.

“I had the best view, standing right there behind them,” Mularkey said after the scrimmage, via the Tennessean. “They had great vision, and I loved that they pressed the holes. You want them to get the defense to commit. They set up their runs. They split some (tackles). Those were real runs, especially down in the red zone. Those were real plays.”

Everyone will be tuning into to see what kind of season the Heisman Trophy winner will have during his rookie year.
