Derrick Henry is hoping to be the featured back in Tennessee this year.

The former Heisman Trophy winner should earn the most carries of any Titans back, as he was the backup to DeMarco Murray for the first two seasons, and he has a little something special for defenders this year: he’s added muscle.

Henry met with the media after reporting to Titans training camp, and he’s a few pounds heavier this year — because of added muscle. With Murray now gone from Tennessee, Henry knows this is his time to shine.

“I definitely want to be dominant this year and any opportunities that I get, take the most advantage of them,” Henry said. “Make plays for this offense, be a consistent back, make plays any chance that I’m in there and just do what I’m asked and help this team win games.”

Henry continued, “I want to be a premier back in this league. And that’s me starting out here in training camp, getting ready with these guys, competing every day and getting better and preparing for the season.”

The Titans did sign free agent back Dion Lewis after playing for the Patriots in 2017, and Lewis could be a nice complement to Henry.

In two career NFL seasons, Henry has rushed for 1,234 yards and 10 TDs on 286 attempts (4.3 YPC).

The Titans kick off their first preseason game August 9 against the Green Bay Packers.
