Wherever Lane Kiffin goes, he makes headlines. He’s not afraid to speak his mind, he’s a great follow on Twitter and he’s not afraid to poke fun at people. Oh, and at most of his stops, he wins football games, too.
However, as he prepares for his first year at Ole Miss, he’ll face a brutal SEC schedule. In fact, his first 3 games this year are home vs. Florida, at Kentucky and home vs. Alabama. That’s not ideal.
On Tuesday afternoon’s edition of “College Football Live” on ESPN, analyst Desmond Howard said he thinks there’s a bit of pressure on Kiffin already (via 247Sports):
“I just think the Lane Kiffin brand, it just brings so much swagger and so much confidence,” Howard said. “When you hear Lane Kiffin is taking over a program, you expect something exciting. You expect wins. You expect a high-flying offense that’s going to score a lot of points and put up a lot of yards on their opponent. I think Lane Kiffin, taking over a team that only had four wins a year ago, but when you look at him he’s coached in the SEC before, obviously.
“He was Joe Brady before Joe Brady. Don’t forget, guys, he was the young offensive guru hotshot with a brilliant mind. People thought he would skyrocket to the top, and he’s had numerous head coaching jobs. Now he’s back in the SEC. I think there’s going to be some pressure on Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss.”
As mentioned above, Kiffin will face a gauntlet in his first 3 games. When will he get his first win this year?
