Desmond Howard wasn’t surprised to see the news that Urban Meyer was fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning.
In fact, he’s been expecting it ever since he learned of one of Meyer’s first moves as the head coach of the franchise.
On Thursday morning, Howard took to Twitter to say he saw the direction things were going when Meyer tried to hire former Iowa strength coach Chris Doyle as one of his first moves:
When one of his first decisions was to hire Chris Doyle,I knew where this was headed. There is nothing he did in Jacksonville that he wouldn't have gotten away with in Gainesville or Columbus. It's hard to blame Urban for being Urban. https://t.co/G5AfdTdsIQ

Doyle faced accusations of bullying players at Iowa. His tenure at Jacksonville lasted only one day before he resigned.
Apparently, that told Howard all he needed to know about how the Urban Meyer era was going to unfold in Jacksonville.
