Ole Miss QB Austin Simmons suffered an ankle injury that had him as questionable for much of the week as the Rebels prepared for a Week 3 game against Arkansas.

On Saturday morning, reports came out that Rebels backup quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was expected to get the start. Given those reports, it would stand to reason that Simmons would be listed on Ole Miss‘s final injury report that was released 90 minutes prior to kickoff.

However, when the final availability reports came out for the game, Simmons name was nowhere to be found on that list.

Lane Kiffin and the Rebels are keeping their decision for their starting quarterback close to their vest. The only two players listed on the report for the Rebels was cornerback Jaylon Braxton and wide receiver Traylon Ray, both who will miss the game.

Chambliss stepped in for Simmons when he was hurt last week against Kentucky. In the season-opener against Georgia State, he went 4-of-6 for 59 yards and one touchdown. He didn’t attempt any passes last week against the Wildcats, but he had three rushes for 13 yards. The senior quarterback has the ability to run the ball and make plays with his legs.

Kickoff between Arkansas and Ole Miss is at 7 p.m. ET and the game will be on ESPN.
