DeVonta Smith already has a great nickname in the Slim Reaper, but now a teammate has delivered another fitting nickname, and it comes from a popular cartoon character.

“He’s like Casper the Friendly ghost,” Philadelphia Eagles teammate Dallas Goedert said. “It’s crazy to see. People be pressing him, he throws a shimmy and just disappears.”

Smith last season started 16 games, and made 64 catches for 916 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Smith won the 2020 Heisman Trophy at Alabama after he led the NCAA in receptions (117), receiving yards (1856), and receiving touchdowns (23). He was drafted by Philadelphia with the 10th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft and set the team’s rookie record for receiving yards (916) in his first season, which broke the previous mark set by DeSean Jackson in 2008.

Smith said he has gained some weight this offseason, but he’s listed at 170 pounds, which still makes him the lightest position player on the roster for the Eagles.
