DFS Picks of the Week: Our top Underdog plays for college and NFL, Sept. 27-28
By Adam Spencer
Published:
We have a doozy of a college football slate on our hands in Week 5. Alabama heads to Athens to face Georgia. Oregon heads to State College to face Penn State.
We get LSU visiting Ole Miss. We have USC traveling for an early game at Illinois. Auburn heads to College Station to take on Texas A&M.
Yeah, this weekend’s slate is absolutely loaded. In the NFL, the Eagles face the Buccaneers in a battle of 3-0 teams. Baltimore and Kansas City do battle in the afternoon window.
As they do every week, our DFS experts — Andrew Olson and Adam Spencer — share their 3 favorite college football picks and their top 2 NFL plays of the week from Underdog.

Our Week 5 CFB Picks
Here’s who we like in this weekend’s loaded college slate:
Andrew Olson
Gunner Stockton, Georgia QB: Higher than 36.5 rush yards
Running quarterbacks have given Kane Wommack’s Alabama defenses fits. We saw it last year with Diego Pavia and Jackson Arnold and in Week 1 with Tommy Castellanos. Stockton is a capable runner, and he doesn’t have to do nearly as much as other running QBs to go over this mark.
Robby Ashford, Wake Forest QB: Lower than 209.5 pass yards
As many SEC fans remember, Ashford’s strength has always been his running capability. In 2025, Ashford has posted solid passing numbers, but he has only faced Kennesaw State, Western Carolina and an NC State squad that is struggling to defend the pass. Georgia Tech should be a much more challenging matchup.
Jayden Maiava, USC QB: Higher than 269.5 pass yards
Maiava is coming off his season-low of 234 passing yards against MSU, but that’s not a major concern. The Illini secondary is not in great shape right now. It should be bombs away for the Trojans.
Adam Spencer
Taylen Green, Arkansas QB: Higher than 268.5 pass yards
The Notre Dame pass defense has been atrocious this year, allowing nearly 300 yards per game through the air. Taylen Green has been electric. If the Razorbacks could stop shooting themselves in the foot in the 4th quarters of these games, Green would be a Heisman contender. I think he’ll throw for for more than 269 yards against the Irish.
Kewan Lacy, Ole Miss RB: Higher 67.5 rush yards
It won’t be easy for Lacy to get to 68 yards on the ground against an elite LSU defense, but the volume of carries should be there. I expect Ole Miss to score more points than anyone else has on the Tiger defense, and Lacy will be a big part of that.
Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State WR: Higher than 87.5 receiving yards
Washington has been a sneaky good team so far this year, but the Huskies haven’t faced a receiver like Jeremiah Smith yet. Yes, this is Ohio State QB Julian Sayin’s first road start, but the Buckeyes will draw up some ways for him to get the ball in Smith’s hands early to settle into a rhythm.
Our Week 4 NFL Picks
And here’s who we’re rolling with on Sunday:
Andrew Olson
Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers WR: Lower than 63.5 receiving yards
McConkey fantasy owners have had it rough through the first 3 weeks. For instance, the Chargers passed 47 times in the Week 3 win against Denver and McConkey’s 7 targets trailed Keenan Allen (11) and Quentin Johnston (10). McConkey’s stock appears to be down right now.
Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys TE: Higher than 54.5 receiving yards
It’s safe to say Ferguson has carved out a role in the Dallas offense. Over the last 2 games, he has 22 catches on 26 targets for 160 receiving yards. The Packers have given up 21 catches on 29 targets for 215 yards to opposing tight ends this season so far.
Adam Spencer
Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings WR: Higher than 74.5 receiving yards
We’re getting an early start with this one, as the Vikings play the Steelers in Dublin. I expect Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson to go off against a suspect Pittsburgh defense, posting 75+ yards, and potentially going over the 100-yard mark.
Matthew Golden, Green Bay Packers WR: Higher than 44.5 receiving yards
The Packers take on the Cowboys in the Sunday nightcap. The Cowboys haven’t been able to stop anyone this year. Heck, even Russell Wilson had a massive performance against Dallas. Matthew Golden should have the best game of his young career, going for 45+ receiving yards.
