Dia Bell, a 5-star 2026 quarterback phenom who has committed to play at Texas, will miss the rest of his final high school football season at American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale after having a minor procedure.

Bell, who is the son of former NBA player Raja Bell, posted on his Instagram account that he wouldn’t be returning to the field this fall but did not disclose if it was because of an injury or something else. He only said that he had a minor procedure and wouldn’t be playing again for his high school team in South Florida.

The high school senior, who committed to Texas way back in the summer of 2024, is the 4th-ranked player in the Class of 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Bell is also the top-ranked quarterback and the top-ranked player from the state of Florida, according to the rankings.

Bell finishes his very abbreviated high school senior season with 540 yards passing, 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

He was coming off a stellar junior season in 2024 that also ended prematurely, throwing for 2,560 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Now, Bell will get healthy during a very long offseason and head to Austin next season to start the next chapter of his football life. He’s expected to enroll at Texas in January.
