The Vanderbilt Commodores have seen a massive resurgence over the past couple of seasons, and much of that success has been driven by the man they have under center in star quarterback Diego Pavia.
Pavia, who transferred into Vandy prior to the 2024 campaign, has gained notoriety not only for his play on the field but also for his vocal support of athletes’ rights and his challenging of NCAA eligibility rules in federal court.
He famously won a ruling against the NCAA this past offseason that allowed him to return for a sixth season in 2025, and his attorney made further headlines on Tuesday afternoon by stating that he could go back to court and challenge for a seventh year of eligibility for Pavia.
This naturally stirred up all sorts of speculation and controversy online, but Pavia took to his personal X account and quickly shut down any rumblings of him trying to come back in 2026.
It’s pretty clear that Pavia is set on 2025 being the last season he spends under center at the collegiate level, even if his attorney had other ideas.
Vanderbilt and Pavia will face Georgia State on Saturday.
