East Carolina had a chance to tie the game against N.C. State with 2:58 remaining, but the extra point attempt was shanked off to the left, and never had a chance to be good.
Owen Daffer simply sent the ball way left and it was several feet from the left upright. He made 2 earlier extra-point attempts.
“No good, he missed it!,” said the announcer. “He pulled it! Daffer missed the kick. … ECU fans in stunned disbelief.”
Added the color commentator, “You can’t make this up.”
The Pirates rallied after the Wolfpack built a 21-7 lead, as they scored a pair of second-half touchdowns, including a 3-yard run from Rahjai Harris, which brought the game within 21-20.

Daffer was an otherwise reliable kicker last season, as he successfully converted 19 of 23 FGAs (82.3 percent) and 39 of 41 PATs (95.1) and earned First-Team All-American Athletic Conference accolades in 2021.
As the game remains close, the Pirates may need him again before this game is over.
