Ed Orgeron has not coached since his 2021 dismissal from LSU. The 2019 national champion is feeling like it might be time for a return to the sidelines.

Orgeron expressed his interest in a return to coaching during an appearance on Pardon My Take.

“I think it’s time,” Orgeron told the Barstool Sports show. “I’m feeling it a little bit. Haven’t made the decision totally, but I’ve got my boys settled, coaching football now. It’s been four years since I’ve been out. I’m getting the itch again.”

Orgeron explained that part of getting settled was following his son, Cody, to Miami Beach. UM coach Mario Cristobal added Cody to the Hurricanes staff. Cody asked his dad to help him get used to life in Miami. Orgeron added that his son Parker is also a Miami analyst. Tyler Spotts-Orgeron is a Tulane assistant.

With his sons settled into coaching jobs, Orgeron feels like the time might be right to get back into coaching. Orgeron, who turned 64 in July, has head coaching experience at Ole Miss (10-25), USC (6-2) and LSU (51-20), as well as numerous stops as an assistant in college and the NFL. He was named SEC Coach of the Year and won numerous national Coach of the Year for guiding the Tigers to the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship.

Orgeron is the latest championship coach to express interest in returning to the sideline. Jimbo Fisher and Jon Gruden have recently made headlines after expressing interest in coaching again.
