Ed Orgeron leads ‘USA’ chant at Ryder Cup practice round

Ed Orgeron is mulling a return to the college football sidelines in what would be his first coaching job since leaving LSU in 2021.
On Tuesday, though, he was on Long Island at Bethpage Black Golf Course, the site of the Ryder Cup. The biennial tournament pits the best golfers from the United States and Europe against each other.
During Tuesday’s practice rounds, the always-boisterous Oregeron was doing his part to get the crowd energized. Here’s a video of him leading fans in a “USA” chant:
Orgeron was at the pinnacle of his sport in 2019 as an LSU team led by Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, and Ja’Marr Chase went 15-0 and won a national championship. After going 11-12 over the next 2 seasons, though, he and the university parted ways.
If he does end up coaching once more, there are certainly some interesting options. That includes UCLA, which would bring him to Southern California for the first time since leaving USC in 2013. If he’s desiring a return to the SEC, Billy Napier‘s already-hot seat at Florida is getting hotter by the day. Sam Pittman might not last much longer at Arkansas, barring a major turnaround. And Hugh Freeze, who worked for Orgeron at Ole Miss, needs a big 3rd season at Auburn to cool down his own hot seat.
For now, though, it looks like Coach O is enjoying his time near the links.
