Ed Orgeron is looking for some positive developments from his running back room ahead of the Tigers’ season opener at UCLA.

In Orgeron’s most recent media availability, he was asked about position battles for the 2021 team. He started by talking about the situation at running back, noting that Tyrion Davis-Price and John Emery Jr. have missed time.

“You look at running back, obviously Tyrion and John are our running backs and I want them to be our running backs, but they haven’t remained healthy throughout camp so let’s see if they come back next week,” Orgeron told reporters. “They come back next week and play well, they’re going to be fine, but if not, we’re going to have to find out who our best running back is there.”

Davis-Price and Emery were the team’s top two rushers in 2020. Davis-Price carried the ball 104 times for 446 yards and 3 touchdowns. Emery rushed 75 times for 378 yards and 3 TDs.
