LSU struggled a bit to put away Syracuse at home following the tough loss to Mississippi State on the road but has a chance to correct some issues this weekend during the homecoming game against Troy.

Coach O was the first coach to speak during the SEC’s weekly Coaches Teleconference.

Here’s a summary of what Orgeron had to say during the call:

  • On defense, we need to work on 3rd down defense and getting ready for Troy’s pace. That’s what they do. They gave Clemson fits last year, we are very respectful of what they can do.
  • Do you wish Derrius Guice could have rested vs. Syracuse? “No, we wanted to play him. Obviously, he’s a competitor, and he wanted to play. We wanted him to play.”
  • Did you notice fans leaving early vs. Syracuse? “First of all, I would say I love our fans. We have great fans. We would like them to stay for the whole game but I think it will get better for SEC games and if we win, they’ll stay to the end.”
  • Will Guice and Rashard Lawrence play vs. Troy? “Both of them are questionable.”
  • Thoughts on Devin White? “He works hard, he’s in the office studying all the time. He led the team in tackles last week with 13. He has all the tools to become an excellent LSU linebacker.”
