Eli Drinkwitz jabs Arkansas during his SEC Media Days debut: ‘I don’t remember the last time they beat us’
Eli Drinkwitz took the podium swinging in his debut appearance at SEC Media Days.
If you missed it, the Mizzou coach fired a shot at Texas following all the expansion speculation down in Hoover, and moments later took aim at the Arkansas Razorbacks.
While the Mizzou-Arkansas game is technically called a rivalry, it’s known as the “Battle Line Rivalry” by the SEC, many fans at both schools don’t honor the game as a true rivalry.
Last year’s game sure felt like a rivalry, as Barry Odom, Brad Davis and several former Missouri commits got the opportunity to face the Tigers on the field. That matchup went down to the wire as Mizzou won the game 50–48 thanks to a last-minute field goal back on Dec. 5, 2020.
When asked if Texas and Oklahoma would prove to be legitimate rivals for Arkansas if they moved to the SEC, Drinkwitz offered up this quote:
“I kinda like the rivalry we got with Arkansas. I mean, I don’t remember the last time they beat us., so, I kinda like what we got right now.”
