The No. 16 Missouri Tigers are set to take on the Auburn Tigers in a pivotal Week 8 matchup under the lights at Jordan-Hare, and both teams will be looking to pick up a much-needed bounce-back win after taking losses in Week 7.
Mizzou, in particular, is looking to keep its SEC Championship and College Football Playoff hopes on track after faltering against Alabama last Saturday, but picking up any win at Auburn is a tall task for any team, especially when it’s taking place at night.

Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz joined the McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning radio show to talk about what he expects to see from Auburn’s offense this weekend. And what his defense needs to do to slow them down.
“You kind of have to pick your poison,” Drinkwitz said. “Do you load up and protect your edges against the run game? Or do you stay back and protect yourself against the RPOs and those wider receiver threats? You know, I think that’s the cat and mouse game. Obviously, he (Hugh Freeze) does a great job at utilizing tempo when he can get some first downs. So, the (Auburn) offense has played some elite defenses, and I think that’s what makes the challenge a little bit better because I don’t know if we can stop them in the same way some of those other teams did.”
It’s clear that Drinkwitz understands what his team is up against when it comes to a Hugh Freeze-led offense, and that challenge is one they will have to overcome if they want to avoid a second straight loss.
