Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers are looking for a new defensive coordinator after Steve Wilks accepted an NFL job on Wednesday.

Wilks is heading back to Charlotte as a member of the Carolina Panthers’ staff, where he’ll serve under head coach Matt Rhule as the team’s secondary coach.

On Wednesday afternoon, Drinkwitz issued a statement thanking Wilks for his year as Mizzou’s defensive coordinator:

“We wish Steve, Marci and their family the best as they return home to Charlotte,” Drinkwitz’s statement reads. “Coach Wilks was a strong asset to our program and staff. We thank him for his commitment to Mizzou football.”

We’ll see where the Tigers turn for their next defensive coordinator now that Wilks is heading back to the NFL.
