Eli Drinkwitz knows all too well what his starting quarterback has gone through this season, so Missouri’s head coach doesn’t shy away from talking about it.
On Tuesday, Drinkwitz once again spoke about Brady Cook’s rocky journey through his senior year, complete with injury after injury. Drinkwitz said that Cook is still dealing with several injuries that he’s not fully recovered from, but still Cook has persevered and has tried to stay on the field for as many snaps as he can.
“He can’t quite snap his wrist the way he needs to, which is why some of the balls get left short. … But he’s a battler, he makes no excuses,” said Drinkwitz.

There was the ankle injury suffered against Auburn in Week 8.
There was the wrist injury suffered against Alabama the very next week.
Cook has only been on the field for 47% of Missouri’s offensive plays over the past month.
“It’s been a 3-, 4-week stretch here, my last season here, where I haven’t played a ton of ball,” Cook said after Missouri’s agonizing loss at South Carolina last Saturday. “I want to finish.”
So, that is what he intends to do. Missouri is sitting at 7-3 with 2 games left in the regular season, starting with Saturday’s road contest against Mississippi State. The Tigers finish with a home game against Arkansas.
Cook’s season stats reflect the massive time he’s missed. He’s thrown for 1,812 yards with just 8 touchdown passes and 2 interceptions.
