Eric Musselman had to essentially start over from scratch when Trevon Brazile was injured (ACL tear) early in the season last year.

But as he told reporters Wednesday, the Razorbacks never made excuses. In fact, Arkansas played really well given the circumstances, advancing to the Sweet 16 before falling to the eventual national champs in UConn.

And now, after months of waiting, Brazile is ready to retake the court as Arkansas tips off its 2023-24 campaign. On Wednesday Musselman updated his injury status for the reporters in attendance.

Musselman said that he will be ready for the first game of the season and that he advanced well ahead of schedule. He’ll suit up for the Razorbacks Friday for their exhibition, too.

The Razorbacks were picked to finish 3rd in the SEC behind Tennessee and Texas A&M. But preseason polls are almost useless, so don’t read into that too much.

In reality, this Arkansas team could be even better than projected. Devo Davis and Makhi Mitchell are back alongside Brazile, and a horde of strong transfers such as Houston’s Tramon Mark and Louisville’s El Ellis make the backcourt dangerous as well.

The key word for Arkansas this season in depth. They have a ton of it. If Musselman can fit all the pieces together, this is a team to watch out for in March.
