What’s the only thing better than enjoying a day off with family, gifts, and food? Adding football to the mix.

Thankfully, we have the opportunity to experience all of that on Friday as ESPN is set to broadcast the Camellia Bowl on Christmas day.

The 2020 Camellia Bowl matchup is a good one as 7-2 Marshall is pitted against 5-1 Buffalo in Montgomery, Ala.

The bowl game is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Both programs are riding streaks heading into the game as Marshall closed the season winning three games in a row while Buffalo won its previous four matchups before advancing to the postseason.

If you aren’t very familiar with these teams, Marshall is led by one of the best freshman quarterbacks at the Group of 5 level in Grant Wells. Wells leads Conference USA in passing yards (1,977 yards) and touchdown passes (18) on the season. While Buffalo is led by junior running back, Jaret Patterson.

Patterson has rushed for over 1,000 yards all three of his seasons at Buffalo and has scored an incredible 19 touchdowns this season. For his career, Patterson has 53 touchdowns for Buffalo.

Buffalo is favored by 5.5 points in the game but Marshall has the all-time edge in the series between these two programs at 8-1 overall. Marshall is on an 8-game winning streak in the series, which includes six wins since the 1999 season.
