ESPN FPI rankings have been updated following an exciting Week 2 slate of games.

We saw some notable results on Saturday, including Florida losing to USF, Mississippi State stunning Arizona State, Mizzou coming from behind to beat Kansas in the return of the Border War, and much more.

ESPN’s Football Power Index has refreshed after a busy weekend, and there’s a new No. 1 team in town. The Oregon Ducks vaulted 6 spots after embarrassing Oklahoma State 69-3 on Saturday, bumping the Texas Longhorns down to No. 2.

In other FPI-related news, the Alabama Crimson Tide bounced back in a big way. After plummeting from the No. 3 spot last week all the way down to No. 13, the Tide rose to No. 4 this week with a 73-0 drubbing of an overmatched Louisiana-Monroe squad.

Here’s a look at the new top 25 FPI rankings, which feature 13 SEC squads:

  1. Oregon
  2. Texas
  3. Ohio State
  4. Alabama
  5. USC
  6. Georgia
  7. Penn State
  8. Ole Miss
  9. Tennessee
  10. Notre Dame
  11. Auburn
  12. Mizzou
  13. Utah
  14. Texas A&M
  15. LSU
  16. Indiana
  17. BYU
  18. Arkansas
  19. TCU
  20. South Carolina
  21. Miami
  22. Oklahoma
  23. Florida
  24. Illinois
  25. Texas Tech

That means that the only 3 SEC teams not currently in the FPI top 25 are Vanderbilt (No. 27), Kentucky (No. 42) and Mississippi State (No. 51). And the fact that the Bulldogs actually fell 3 spots despite a ranked home win over Arizona State is, frankly, insane.
