The SEC has sent a number of elite running backs off to the NFL in recent years, including first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire out of LSU this past April.

Thus, when ESPN recently re-ranked its “Position U” series, it was no surprise to see the “RBU” rankings loaded with SEC squads.

In fact, as you can see here, the SEC had 5 of the top 10 “RBU” schools, led by Alabama at No. 1 overall:

  • No. 1 — Alabama
  • No. 3 — LSU
  • No. 6 — Auburn
  • No. 9 — Georgia
  • No. 10 — Arkansas

Georgia fans probably feel like that ranking is too low after producing guys like Knowshon Moreno, Nick Chubb, Todd Gurley, Sony Michel and D’Andre Swift (a second-round pick this past draft).

However, one thing is certain — the SEC produces some of the best runners around.
