The Alabama Crimson Tide open fall camp this week, and the Tide embark on another national championship run in 2019.
Coming off the SEC Championship win over Georgia, nearly everyone predicts the Tide and Bulldogs to play once more in Atlanta; however, before Alabama can make it to the conference championship, it will have to get through the meat of its SEC schedule. Thankfully, the non-conference schedule is rather weak — Duke, New Mexico State, Southern Miss and Western Carolina.
ESPN recently released its updated Football Power Index rankings, and FPI specifically takes a look at Bama’s schedule.
The Tide’s toughest game? The FPI says it’s Auburn, which falls on the road this season. The next toughest game is a road test in College Station in October.
The FPI gives Alabama a 14.7 percent chance to go undefeated, as well as giving the Tide a 47 percent chance of winning the conference.
Below is Alabama’s full schedule and projected win probability, per the FPI:
- August 31: vs. Duke (Atlanta): 96.3 percent win probability
- September 7: New Mexico State: 99.7 percent
- September 14: at South Carolina: 82.5 percent
- September 21: Southern Miss: 98.3 percent
- September 28: Ole Miss: 95.1 percent
- October 12: at Texas A&M: 74.3 percent
- October 19: Tennessee: 88.4 percent
- October 26: Arkansas: 97.5 percent
- November 9: LSU: 74.8 percent
- November 16: at Mississippi State: 77.9 percent
- November 23: Western Carolina: 99.9 percent
- November 30: at Auburn: 73.6 percent
