For Week 7 of the 2021 college football season, we have a fitting 7 games of SEC conference clashes. All 14 SEC teams are in action and facing conference opponents.
While it’s still a little early to call a ticket “punched” for the SEC Championship Game, the winner of the Georgia-Kentucky game will be in the driver’s seat to play in Atlanta as the lone undefeated team in the SEC East (and conference as a whole).
The rest of the Week 7 SEC slate is highlighted by rivalry clashes, a meeting of the former Big 12 teams and Lane Kiffin’s return to Rocky Top. ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of each Week 7 game:
- Arkansas (59.7 percent chance to win) vs. Auburn
- Florida (72.9 percent) at LSU
- Texas A&M (77.1 percent) at Missouri
- Georgia (95.4 percent) vs. Kentucky
- South Carolina (92.5 percent) vs. Vanderbilt
- Alabama (82 percent) at Mississippi State
- Tennessee (54 percent) vs. Ole Miss
Here’s how ESPN defines the FPI:
FPI is a predictive rating system designed to measure team strength and project performance going forward. The ultimate goal of FPI is not to rank teams 1 through 128; rather, it is to correctly predict games and season outcomes. If Vegas ever published the power rankings it uses to set its lines, they would likely look quite a lot like FPI.
